Delvin Solkinson - Main Profile
In love with our world, Delvin is a gardener who creates permaculture gardens with a focus on native perennial plants with a history of use by the traditional peoples of the land. His core offerings include creating free, open source learning and teaching tools shared with the World Community. He lives and works at a non-profit arts organization CoSM, Chapel of Sacred Mirrors where he does project management, content management and curational assistance including being Senior Managing Editor for CoSM Journal of Visionary Culture.
Delvin has completed a PDC, Diploma and Masters Degree with Bill Mollison and done advanced teacher trainings with Rosemary Morrow, David Holmgren, Geoff Lawton, Patricia Michael, Robyn Francis, the Bullock Brothers, Tom Ward, Jude Hobbs, Larry Santoyo, Scott Pittman, Michael Becker, Robin Wheeler, Starhawk, Looby Macnamara and Robin Clayfield. He is an accredited teacher through the Permaculture Association (UK), Permaculture Research Institute (Australia) and a Teacher and Field Mentor through the Permaculture Institute (USA) for which he is also the Diploma Registrar. He has completed a PDC in Portland with Toby Hemenway as well as a PDC in Greece with Rowe Morrow. Delvin completed a second Diploma through the Permaculture Institute in 2012 then pursued a 7 year experimental Doctorate in Permaculture Education under the mentorship of Larry Santoyo and the Permaculture Academy. Recently he completed the Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design apprenticing with Looby Macnamara with a final review by Aranya. Currently he is doing a pilot project Post-Doc in Permaculture Education. Delvin serves as the Diploma Program Co-Ordinator of the Permaculture Institute and is a Field Mentor through The Peoples Diploma. He is doing a Tutor Training so he can support apprentices doing Diplomas through the Permaculture Association and as part of his life long learning.
Delvin's core offerings are all free downloads online. This includes a textbook Permaculture Design Notes including the core curriculum of the Permaculture Design Certificate Course, a teachers manual and extensive sections on medicine making, food preservation and animal care. A companion set of cards, Permaculture Design Deck, shares permaculture principles, attitudes, strategies and methods not included in the textbook. A design charrette support, Permaculture Elements Game, includes game board base maps that can be used at home or in the classroom for any size groups and movable elements cards commonly found on permaculture sites.
