Mark Shipperlee - Main Profile

I completed a PDC in 2012 - but have been involved in countryside management, woodland work, environmental campaigning etc for many years. I am currently based in Northumberland and have a small-holding literally on Hadrian's Wall, where I grow a lot of my own food, at 210 metres above sea level on a south west facing, fairly exposed site. The site became a LAND centre at the end of 2019.

I am currently teaching various elements of permaculture, organising Introduction to Permaculture courses and now building the curriculum to teach my own PDCs. Having founded and run a charity working in Romania for ten years, I now visit annually to help teach a PDC out there.

I manage various areas of woodland in my locality, including reinstating a coppice rotation in Hazel; and am also a director of Living Woods North East CIC and The Fruiting Tree CIC, both local non-profits with trees in one way or another
