Joe_Atkinson - Educator Profile

I've been interested in Permaculture since 2005. I took the PDC in 2007 and acted as the Permaculture Association's Learning Coordinator from 2009-2017. I have collaborated extensively with permaculture educators in Britain and across Europe, having helped to secure funding for, and coordinate the EPT project. I am a member of the Association's Education Working Group.

I live in a co-housing community in suburban Leeds called LILAC (Low Impact Living Affordable Community). The homes are of strawbale construction and the site features numerous ecological features such as renewable energy, SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage System), edible landscaping etc. The community uses a pioneering financial model called MHOS (Mutual Home Ownership), a hub-and-spokes governance structure and a formal consensus decision-making process.

Teaching experience
